CLINICAL SUPERVISION IN ILLINOIS

Becoming a therapist is a process, too.

Clinical supervision should be more than just running through cases and checking the right boxes.

At Embrace Counseling Center, supervision is collaborative, relational, and focused on the process. It’s a space to talk through your clinical work, ask the questions you’re still figuring out, notice what comes up for you in the room, and keep growing into your identity as a therapist.

You don’t have to have it all figured out before you walk in.

Supervision that makes room for the therapist, too.

The way you show up in therapy matters.

Your instincts, uncertainty, identities, lived experiences, reactions to clients, growing edges, and strengths all become part of the clinician you’re becoming.

Our approach to supervision creates room to explore those pieces alongside the practical and clinical parts of the work.

Depending on your needs, supervision may include:

  • Case conceptualization and treatment planning

  • Clinical interventions and decision-making

  • Ethics, boundaries, and professional development

  • Countertransference and therapist reactions

  • Trauma-informed and relational clinical work

  • Cultural humility and identity in the therapeutic relationship

  • Building confidence and developing your clinical voice

  • Navigating difficult or complex cases

  • Supporting your growth as a clinician

Individual + Group Supervision

Embrace Counseling Center may offer both individual clinical supervision and supervision groups, depending on current availability.

Group supervision also gives clinicians the opportunity to learn alongside other therapists, hear different perspectives, talk through clinical questions together, and realize that plenty of the things you’re wondering about are things other therapists are wondering about, too.

Availability and group openings may vary.

MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR

Sharon Kim, LCPC

Sharon Kim is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois who genuinely enjoys supporting therapists as they grow into their work.

She knows supervision isn’t just about talking through cases or checking off licensure requirements. It’s also about having a place to ask questions, think out loud, talk through the moments that didn’t go as planned, and build confidence in your own clinical voice.

Sharon’s approach is collaborative, curious, and down-to-earth. She’ll help you look at what happened in the session, what you’re thinking about afterward, and what may have been coming up for you while you were in the room.

There’s no expectation that you’ll have everything figured out. Supervision is a space to keep learning, stay curious, and become more comfortable being the therapist you are.
